The Italian Studies Unit has grown out of the School of Education. It has undertaken several study and research projects and published essays and magazines thanks to the collaboration of professors.
This Unit provides material to Parmateneo, a weekly University publication, in which many students write their own columns. There are currently two weekly publications it is sponsoring: “Traguardi” only available in paper form (Parma, Battei publishing company) and “Fuori di testo” available both in paper and digital format (Milan, Unicopli publishing company).
Other editorial projects promoted by the Italian Studies Unit are “Parole allo specchio” and “A tre voci” (Milan, Unicopli publishing company), the bi-annual magazine "Parole rubate: Rivista internazionale di studi sulla citazione; Purloined Letters: International Journal of Quotation Studies" (this magazine has an A rating by ANVUR).
The First Cycle Degree Course in Humanities is taught both in the traditional blended way.
Italian Studies actively promotes initial training and support to teachers of Arts and Humanities in lower and upper secondary education schools. It is responsible for the SISS, TFA, PAS courses and offers refresher and completion courses and masters through its website https://elly2023.scuola.unipr.it/
A strong focus is put on internationalisation. Many lessons offered in Italian Studies are blended and taught in English. A counselling service for learning and teaching Italian is available and all the Italian Language courses for foreigners are part of the Humanities degree.
