ART HISTORY, MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS

The Art Music and Performing Arts Unit brings together the academic disciplines (SSD) listed below, devoted to the study, protection, valorisation and promotion of cultural heritage, tangible and intangible and in dialogue with new digital technologies.

The cultural and methodological affinities between various disciplines, both ancient and recent, including the history of art and museology, the history of theatre and music, the history of cinema and television, new media, librarianship and archiving, aesthetics, and the legislation of the cultural heritage, are, in line with a solid tradition, encouraged and strongly marked by the development of forms of collaboration in the areas of teaching, research and the third mission.

The centres attached to the Unit are CSAC, Study Centre and Communication Archives and CAPAS, Centre for Arts and Entertainment Activities and Professions. The Unit hosts the scientific journal Ricerche di S/Confine.

Services and Facilities

The Unit is divided into three plexuses. The main building is the Plesso della Pilotta, which houses the offices of most of the professors and three classrooms equipped for teaching activities, including the Aula Mulas with a capacity of 70 seats. The complex also houses Fine and Performing Arts Library, which conserves an enormous heritage of monographs and periodicals relating to the arts and the performing arts, including design and fashion history, cinema, and new media.

Also, part of the Unit are the Musicology section at the Casa della Musica, which houses the Biblioteca di Musicologia (the Musicology Library), an integral part of the Media Library, and the Library and Archives section at the Via D'Azeglio Complex.
