The Department's research covers various thematic areas of the humanities and social sciences, mainly falling between scientific-disciplinary areas 10, 11 and 14.
Participation in competitive calls, promoted by the University and the Department, has enabled the funding of various international, national and regional research projects.
Along with individual research activity and participation in Centres and Research Laboratories, the Department's teaching staff and researchers participate in University and departmental Working Groups, the latter not formalized.
