The Centres and Laboratories represent an important point of reference for the Department's participatory and collaborative research activity.
The Centres are Athenaeum or inter-Athenaeum structures with managerial autonomy, whose activity may be articulated on different areas, including teaching and third mission.
The Laboratories, formally constituted and endowed with their own regulations, are internal structures, with possible interdepartmental or external collaborations, dedicated to specific areas of research and to the dissemination of scientific results (through conferences, seminars and other public engagement activities).
In addition, research activity is expressed in the participation of teaching staff and researchers in University Working Groups and in the establishment of Departmental Working Groups of an informal nature.
A plurality of conventions and collaboration agreements, mainly research but also aimed at teaching and third mission, defines the network of relationships, national and international, between the Department and other universities, research bodies and other entities and territorial contexts.
