Registration for examinations for degree courses offered by the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries must be done online.

All regularly enrolled students, including those who are behind in their studies, must use the ESSE3 system to consult the calendar and register for the examination included in their study plan.

The platform also provides for the online administration of student opinion survey questionnaires (OPIS) and the online recording of examination results.

ESSE3

To access the ESSE3 system, use your University credentials provided by the University's email service (email and related password). Once authenticated, the EXAMS section will show all the appeals of the course units in your program of study for which you have not yet passed the exam.

The ESSE3 system distinguishes between inscriptions to SESSIONS (verbal exams) and PARTIAL EXAMS (non-veralizing exam papers), corresponding to 2 different items in the menu.

Please note that you can only register for examinations of a given course unit if the programme of study is approved; for programmes of study submitted online, approval is automatic. In addition the ESSE3 system does not allow registration for examinations unless the student opinion survey questionnaires (OPIS) relating to the chosen teaching unit is completed online first.

Students enrolled in degree courses of the four-year curricula (pre-reform DM. 509) without ECTS credits and students participating in the LLP-Erasmus Project will not be able to use the ESSE3 system to register for appeals, but must email the professor in charge of the course.

Registration is usually allowed during the period 20 to 4 days before each appeal date. Any changes in examination date or time will be automatically notified by email. On the day of the appeal, the student must show up with the university academic transcript.

Further information, guides and tutorials on using the platform are available on the appropriate web page of the University website:

Examination calendar

The updated examination calendar can be accessed online by all students in the special Examination noticeboard of ESSE3.

To start the search you need to select the items in the drop-down menus: Dipartimento (Department), Corso di Studio (Degree course), Attività Didattica (Teaching Activity) or Docente (Professor). Entering a date or date range in the boxes Data Esame (Examination Date) will list all appeals that take place in the selected period.

You must still use ESSE3 for registration.
