The Head represents the Department, promotes its activities and is responsible for its functioning. He convenes and presides all the meetings of the Board and the Departmental Executive Committee. He also ensures that decisions are implemented, manages relations with the University Management Board and exercises all other powers conferred by law, statute and regulations. The Head of the Department, if he is unable to perform his duties or absent, is substituted by the Deputy-Head and is assisted by the Administrative Manager in the running of the Department.

The Department Council is the body that deliberates the programming and management of the department activities, in accordance with law, statute and university regulations.

The Departmental Executive Committee is an executive body that supports the Head in carrying out the functions entrusted to him.

The Committee assists the Head with the preparation of the measures to be presented to the Board and in the general running of the Department.

Coordination Committee

The Committee composed of the Unit Coordinators, the Head, who chairs it, and the Deputy-Head. It remains in office for the duration of the Head's term of office.

The Committee:

  1. is responsible for liaising between the Units and supervising, from a departmental strategy perspective, teaching, research, internationalisation, third mission and student services activities, with particular reference to their sustainability in terms of effectively available resources, in collaboration with the relevant departmental committees and Degree Programme Councils
  2. with regard to the organisation and methods of quantitative and qualitative staff development, assists the Head in the preliminary investigation and proposal activities before the Departmental Executive Committee and the Department Council, within the broader framework of University policies and in line with the Department's Strategic Plan, considering the available resources and the actual needs of teaching and research

Departmental Strategic Plan Monitoring Committee

The Departmental Strategic Plan Monitoring Committee of the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises (DUSIC) at the University of Parma oversees the planning cycle and the annual review of the objectives and actions set out in the Departmental Strategic Plan (DSP).

It operates in line with the University’s internal monitoring guidelines/model for the DSP, which provide for an annual review based on the measurement of strategic indicators, the analysis of implemented actions, and the formal identification of any improvement measures in the monitoring report.

It ensures alignment between the department’s strategic priorities and operational programming, contributing to integration with University-wide planning documents (e.g., the Integrated Activity and Organisation Plan—PIAO) and overall reporting.

Departmental Committee for the Didactic Coordination of Language Collaborators and Experts (CELs)

Members

The Departmental Committee for the Didactic Coordination of Language Teaching Assistants (CELs), coordinated by Prof. Micòl Beseghi, oversees and monitors the activities of CELs affiliated with D.U.S.I.C. 

The Committee, composed of one representative for each language (Chinese, French, English, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and German), meets regularly to address didactic and organizational matters and to ensure the quality of teaching. It also acts as a liaison between the CELs and the Head of Department, monitoring the Department’s needs in terms of practical language classes and contributing to the organization of recruitment procedures for new language assistants.

Anti-Corruption and Transparency Committee

Members

The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Committee is an internal body within the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries with advisory and monitoring functions aimed at preventing corruption and promoting administrative transparency.

Disciplinary Committee

Members

The Disciplinary Committee is established pursuant to Article 6 of the Regulations for disciplinary proceedings against students approved by the University on 30 May 2021. It is responsible for bringing charges against the student and imposing sanctions or dismissing the case. It also carries out the relevant preliminary investigations, guaranteeing the right to a fair hearing.

Joint Teaching Staff - Student Committee

The Joint Teaching Staff - Student Committee consists of one professor and one student for each degree program affiliated with the Department.

The Steering Committee, composed of a representation of the Department's professors and representatives of the world of work, ensures constant liaison with the world of business and labor, in order to assess the progress of the Courses of Study, to elaborate proposals for the definition and design of the course catalogue and learning objectives, promoting contacts for possible internships of students in companies and institutions.
