The cartography laboratory exercises a support function for teaching, research and all activities related to the world of cartographic representation in general.

During the year, meetings and seminars on cartography-related topics are offered, and tutorials on topographic map reading and the use of online cartographic resources are held for students.

The laboratory is equipped with a cartographic library in which a consultation service of cartographic materials is active.

The hub is located in the Borgo Carissimi 12 building, which houses the offices and services related to geographic disciplines.

You can access the office by appointment, Monday through Thursday.

The cartographic heritage

The endowment includes numerous topographical maps of the "Istituto Geografico Militare", at various scales, among which the Topographical map of Italy series 50 - scale 1:50,000 of which the complete series updated to recent years is owned.

Regional maps (Emilia Romagna), geological maps, nautical and aeronautical maps, hiking maps and some ancient maps are also available.

The cartographic library also has instruments for position surveying and orientation, used mainly for educational purposes. Numerous wall maps, globes, slides, and other educational materials are also usable for this purpose.

Atlases, CD-ROMs, and publications with a cartographic theme can be consulted at the adjoining service point related to geographic sciences of the Psychology and Socio-Pedagogical Library.

Cartographic holdings are not allowed to be borrowed.
