On Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27, the Miazzi Room of the Viale San Michele complex (Viale San Michele 9), hub of the Languages Unit of the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Industries, will host the X conference "The Visible Translator": two days entirely dedicated to translation, organized by the University of Parma as part of the European Day of Languages.Since its inception, the project has aimed to train and inform students and professional translators in subjects related to professional preparation and the challenges posed by working practice in the field of translation.Ten years after the edition that investigated "dangerous relations" between translator and author, the 2022 edition intends to focus on the relationship between the translator and his or her audience: contributions, from different cultural areas, will examine the freedoms that the translator can or must take to make the target text usable to the translation recipients, "domesticating" it to a greater or lesser extent. The shift of attention from the source text to the final product of the translation process, considered almost as a creation endowed with a life of its own, traces, moreover, the trajectory accomplished by translanguaging, which today is very attentive to the reception of translated works. The first day of study will have, as per tradition, a predominantly literary imprint, with forays into the musical and cinematic scene. The second day, on the other hand, will deal with modern technologies used to make translations more easily accessible to target audiences, including those with special needs.Monday, Sept. 26, at 4:45 p.m., in the Aula Magna of the University's central hub (Via Università, 12) will be held the presentation and screening of the film "D(IO)", accessible with audiodescription by the students of the Spanish Language course (CdS in Language Sciences and Cultural Studies for Special Needs), with the participation of the production of the Film - BARRACUDA STORIES - TrailerTuesday, September 27 will also be held the awards ceremony of the ninth edition of the unpublished translation contest "Visible Translator".
